The race is done, now what do I do?

Now that you've gotten in the habit of running three times a week (at least), you may be wondering what's next? The distances in your booklet continue on up until the time 10-miler training starts.

If you don't want to do the longer distances, no problem. Just find a distance you're comfortable with and stick with it.

The Tuesday-Thursday group still meets, but it's way more casual. We run whatever distance we feel like that day. It's usually 3 miles or more, but you can pick whatever distance you want to do, just make sure you run WITH someone. No running by yourself! We had a nice, big group this morning, and we look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Also, the sunrise is later each day, so be extra careful on the darkened roads. You may have noticed some runners wearing reflective vests or little flashing lights. If you plan on running at dawn or dusk, you may want to invest in one. They don't cost very much and could save your life. (end of safety lecture)

There's a 5k on the 23rd for Clark Elementary. If you want information on all the upcoming races, go to the track club web site at www.charlottesvilletrackclub.org.

Happy running!

How do we volunteer to be a pink lady for 2007?

Thank you for your interest in helping next year. We will start planning for the 2007 summer program in February. I'm sure you continue to run and will enter races (The Shelter for Help in Emergency Race is November 4th) so you're bound run into the Pink Ladies. Some of us will run in races, participate in the 10 miler training program (starts Oct 28th at the UVA track) and of course you'll see most of us running around town. Please give your name, email address and phone number to any Pink Lady you run into.
