This Saturday is going to be very special. We call it 'Survivor Saturday' and it is a celebration. We celebrate women who have survived the fight against breast cancer and we celebrate women who are still fighting the battle. It's also a great reminder as to why we are here.
Our program starts at 7:45 and will feature a great speaker, a lot of inspiration, and some 'pink perks'. Special thanks to Althea from Avon and her team for the help!
If you've been skipping the program, this is a great week to come back. We hope to see you there.
I've been reading the comments you've been posting and I'm so happy that you're making your milestones. I can't wait to see you after you cross the finish line!

Today was very inspirational and reflective. I have friends that are survivers... and I've lost friends to breast cancer. But to hear Joan say 'smile' afterwards to encourage us to be positive and look ahead--that was most welcomed. Besides, that is why many of us are here...to do something positive and inspiring--to move forward and to bring attention to this very challenging cause...Thank you Joan. Thank you Pink Ladies.
Due to being out of town, I was unable to attend the TP yesterday. However, my husband, who has been kind enough to walk with me during the week, walked with me today (Sunday) instead. The only "problem" is that we were unsure where to go so that I'd get this week's distance in. We actually lucked out this morning because we saw the pink chalk marks still on the street, but if it had rained... well, we'd have been out of luck. So may I suggest that you post the route(s) for each Saturday's runs somewhere? Either here on the blog or the main site? I do the newcomers' distance, but it would be very easy to post all of them somewhere so that others like me who don't routinely count our miles can be sure to do the miles we need. All we need is a simple, "starting from the field, follow Alderman Road to Lewis Mt Rd, turn left, etc".
I know it's late now, but there's always next year to consider! Thanks!
Will there be a special marker again at the Race for Training Program participants? A ribbon or something? I did the race in 2006, first and only time, and thought it was really neat that we were singled out like that--gotta get SOMETHING outta all this sweat! However, I will not be in town for that last Saturday before the Race (which I'm registered for) and I really want the marker again if there will be one this year. Maybe could you consider handing them out next Saturday the 16th as well as the 23rd? Thanks!
What's the theme for this Saturday? I've gotten hooked in and really look forward to the 'special speakers' and events!!! You all are the best!!! Jay Lopez was right last Saturday when he said that this is the best program in the country for women!!! URock!...and RUN!!! :)
